Welcome to the Orwell Village Film Club!
The club has been showing films in the Orwell village hall and enjoying a social catch up beforehand since 2007. We select a mixture of film ages and genres and try to cater to all tastes. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you live in the village and we would love for you to come along.
We show 10 films a year, on the 4th Thursday of every month except August and December.
Doors open at 7pm when free tea and coffee are available, and maybe a tasty nibble for the last showing of the year in November, or March at our (very brief pre-film) annual general meeting.
The film usually starts at 7.30pm with a short interval and comfort break about mid-way through to allow for more chat and an ice cream.
Need accessibility requirements?
It’s our duty to accommodate everyone’s accessibility requirements, so have no fears, the village hall has wheelchair access and facilities, along with priority parking on the high street. For our friends with hearing loss or impairments, the audio is available through the hearing loop in the village hall and we always show the subtitles (if available).
How much does it cost?
There is no need to pre-book. Tickets are £5 per member and £6 per guest, by cash or card at the door. Up to two under 18s are free per paying adult (film classification permitting).
Membership is open to Orwell and area residents at £3.00 per person per year and provides access to the club’s free DVD back catalogue lending library as well as some influence on future film selection.
Interested in the legal bit?
In the Autumn 2023 we moved to booking commercial Single Title Screening Licences for each evening. These licences allow a wide choice of films, keep things legal and ensure a portion of our ticket prices feed back into the creative film industry.
